There is plenty of parking here, or if you’re coming by train aim for Amersham or Beaconsfield stations and each are a 5-10 minute taxi journey.
If you plan to stay overnight, there are lots of places nearby and our recommended Accommodation List is the best place to start for some ideas.
If you’re attending a course where we’ll be shooting, you will need to bring your camera along. A digital SLR or mirrorless camera system are essential, though please don’t worry about how good your camera is. We teach a system of photography that focuses on understanding light, compostition and subject, so if you can gain a good understanding of these fundamentals you can capture great photographs with any DSLR. The focal length or your lenses is more important, we like you have the ability to shoot both wide and telephoto lengths… so a 35mm or 24-70mm lens paired with an 85mm or 70-200mm or similar are ideal. Please contact us if you’re unsure about what you have and would like some assurance that it’s suitable.
This varies per course, but we always keep our class sizes small so it’s easier to learn and so that everyone is given close attention by our tutors. On the whole there are two trainers present on every course, and there is a maximum of 12 delegates on our Wedding Workshop and 14 on our Wedding Portfolio Builder course. However, when we’re out on our shoots the groups are split in half, so there is a maximum of 6 or 7 people per shooting group. We always want to make sure you have plenty of time to shoot and ask questions, so keeping the groups small in this way is really important to us. For our Family Photography course, Boudoir course and Flash/Winter Weddings course the max class size is 8.
We use professional models who are very friendly and happy to be posed by a group of photographers! We also have a full release signed by each model, so that you can use the images on your own websites. We are always bringing new faces to keep images looking fresh and different.
You will be free to use the images you take on any of our courses for your own website, or in a sample album / frames etc, to help with the promotion of your own photography business. (Please note that the model releases do not permit the resale of these photographs, or magazine publication, without prior written permission from The Trained Eye.)
Of course! Tea & Coffee and snacks are provided throughout the day to keep your energy up, and a full lunch is provided on all of our photography courses. (Please advise us if you have any special dietary requirements).
